Our ‘Classic’ Niseko Itinerary

Niseko - Tokyo
10 days

Niseko is Japan's most famous ski resort. You simply must ski in Niseko at some point in  your life, its brilliance demands it. So this itinerary is simply devised to put a tick in that box...and because you will be passing through Tokyo en route home then why not spend several days in the world's most exciting city?

You'll want for nothing in Japan's most internationally-renowned and high prestige ski resort – a large ski area, varied terrain, endless backcountry to explore and a lively nightlife scene. Make yourself comfortable and simply base yourself here for a week. Simple! This will afford you the time and freedom to also ski nearby Moiwa, Rusutsu and Kiroro, as well as heading out cat skiing on Weiss Mountain or Chisenupuri if you wish. But you don't have to - there is more than enough to keep you entertained on the slopes of the linked Niseko resorts.

Then it's on to Tokyo – the one city you must see, sorry … experience, in this lifetime. Stay in Shinjuku - the heart of the action - and explore to your heart's content.

How much would this holiday cost?

Obviously, cost depends on which accommodation you choose, how many excursions and activities you want to book, whether you wish to include ski hire and local backcountry guides, etc. An indicative lead-in price for this itinerary would be from circa £3,350 per person, including on moderate accommodation (mid / low season), transfers, lift passes in Niseko and economy class flights from the U.K.

If you were to move the dates to January (but avoiding Christmas & New Year / Chinese New Year), this would then rise by approximately a couple of hundred pounds per person. And, of course, if you wanting the finest, most luxurious accommodation then....then the sky's the limit really, as both Niseko and Tokyo have it all! Solo travellers should also be aware that costs increase, as you carry the burden of the accommodation cost alone.

We don't have to include international flights. However, by keeping it all within one package, your arrangements are protected by ATOL.

Different Snow strive to offer the most competitive prices in all instances. However, we pride ourselves first and foremost on quality - we are an independent specialist tour operator and, therefore, are not beholden to any supplier. We make our decisions based only on who's best in each and every instance.

What else could you do...

With no set departures or fixed dates this itinerary can be extended, or even curtailed, to suit your available dates and budget.

If you want to only take one week off work, then we can fly you out to Hokkaido Island on the Saturday, therefore arriving Sunday. You then get five full days skiing in Niseko (Monday to Friday) and then take the Friday evening flight down to Tokyo. Full day in Tokyo on the Saturday, and fly home on Sunday arriving back in the UK same day. Ready for work on Monday...tired, but oh so happy!

No desire to spend Tokyo? No problem, let's simply extend your time in Niseko and fly you straight in and straight out of Hokkaido Island, thus maxing out your time on the slopes. Alternatively, you could stay on Hokkaido Island and replace Tokyo with cosmopolitan Sapporo City at the end.

You've travelled all this way and you want more time in the powder snow? Then add on some time in Asahikawa and / or Furano in Central Hokkaido before heading down to Tokyo.

And if you want a ore immersive Japanese experience, we not add on a couple of days and take in Kyoto, riding on the bullet-train between - two nights in each city sounds about right.

We had a trip of a lifetime holiday

Different Snow presented us with an excellent itinerary to suit our budget and accommodated specific requests. We had a whistlestop tour of Tokyo followed by great powder skiing in Hakuba then a cultural exploration of Kyoto. A fascinating and rewarding trip!
